Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve is a 725-acre wildlife preserve located within the city limits of Hillsboro, Oregon. The Preserve is a tranquil sanctuary for both people and animals. The quiet open waters, rolling meadows and upland ash and fir woods are home to thousands of ducks and geese, deer, otters, beavers, herons and eagles.

The Preserve is a premier resource center for information and services related to wetlands and aquatic education in the Pacific Northwest. Thousands of pre-school and school-aged children, bird watchers, university staff and students, researchers and others benefit from the programs and services provided by the Preserve.

With the help of generous donations and dedicated volunteers, the Jackson Bottom Wetlands Education Center opened on September 27th, 2003. The 12,000 square-foot farm-style building blends well with its natural surroundings with a 3,000 square-foot wrap-around deck that connects the Center to the trails leading into the Preserve. With over 25,000 people engaged in programs or visiting the Preserve annually, the Wetlands Education Center provides opportunities for people of all ages to interact and participate in the natural richness of the Preserve. The Wetlands Education Center offers a field station approach as the gateway to the ecology of the Preserve. The Center provides the visitor a unique variety of hands-on exhibits, a nature store, classroom and meeting space, volunteer and staff work areas, and a beautiful deck with fantastic views overlooking the Preserve. In rain or shine, heat or snow, Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve is a resource for everybody.

The trails are open from dawn to dusk. No dogs or bicycles, please.
