Volgistics is an online system for coordinating volunteers. It will allow volunteers to use their personal computers or a Jackson Bottom Wetlands computer to sign up for volunteer tasks and to record the time they worked. It will also help the volunteer coordinator to better maintain accurate records of services provided by volunteers. Volgistics uses the same level of security as online banking to keep information safe.
Presently, the system is in the process of being set up for use by several departments in the city. When the volunteer tracking system has been structured, training information will be provided about how to use it. The means of volunteering will not become different, just expanded so that there are different ways to indicate you want to be involved and to record your work efforts. A computer station will reside in the Wetlands Education Center hallway and will allow volunteers to check in on days they work. The system will become ready for use in 2010.
