Programs for Teachers

Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve offers a wide range of workshops, in-services, and customized school involvement programs for schools and educators around the state. Jackson Bottom is becoming well known as a leader in teacher education programs. Our programs range from one hour to five days in length, with graduate credit available for some. Jackson Bottom is also the state center for providing Project WET (Water Education for Teachers), Creeks and Kids Watershed Workshops, and Project Webfoot Workshops.
Our thematic water approach is to provide resources for educators (formal and informal) that build connections and partnerships in their own communities. This is accomplished through specialized in-service training combined with partnership building and the use of age-appropriate curriculum. Presently we are partnered with The Restoration and Enhancement Board for the Creeks and Kids Watershed Workshop.
Workshops offered:
• Creeks and Kids Watershed [one five-day workshop each summer]
• Project WET (Water Education for Teachers) [6 hours/workshop]
• Project Aquatic WILD [6 hours/workshop]
• WOW! The Wonders of Wetlands [6 hours/workshop]
• Project Webfoot – Water, Wetlands, and Waterfowl [6 hours/workshop]
