Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve offers a wide range of workshops, in-services and customized school involvement programs for schools and educators from throughout the Northwest. Our programs range from one hour to six days in length, with graduate credit available. Jackson Bottom is also the Northwest Oregon Regional center for providing Project WET Workshops.

Our approach is to provide resources for educators that build connections and partnerships in their own communities. This is accomplished through specialized in-service training combined with partnership building and the use of age-appropriate curriculum. Oregon Department of Education Benchmarks are tied into each program

For additional information, please contact Lin Howell, Teacher Education Specialist, at 503-681-6429 or linh@ci.hillsboro.or.us.

The Project WET (Water Education for Teachers) Curriculum and Activity Guide is special because all materials have been developed, field-tested and evaluated by teachers, kids (and even researchers!).

All activities are hands-on, self-contained and easy to use. And since activities are for use in language arts, math, science, music, art and other subjects, WET "fits" into a school's existing curriculum. WET activities and materials encourage age-appropriate critical thinking and problem solving.

By using Project WET services and resource materials, young people will gain the knowledge, skill and commitment needed to make a real difference in how their communities treat water resources and address water conservation today and in the future.

WET Workshops Offer:
· Project WET Curriculum and Activity Guide and a lot of other goodies!
· A chance to interact and network with other educators with similar interests
· Professional growth for teachers and students through more varied opportunities to meet Oregon State Standards.
· Workshop hours/credit for certification.
