Background Information

How to Interpret the Wind Run Dial

Wind run is the total distance that the wind has traveled during a period of time in a particular direction. Wind run has a direction and a magnitude (distance). In the Wind Run Dial, note the black lines that extend from the center point of the dial. These lines show the wind run during the past hour for each of 16 compass points.
