Footer – In Season

Summer – The wetlands are slowly drying and nesting waterfowl such as Mallard, Gadwall and Canada Goose are producing young.  Bald Eagle and Osprey chicks fledge, southbound shorebirds show up and the young of many nesting swallows and song birds are abundant.  Wapato and Spirea blossoms color the wetlands white and pink. The scent of tarweed is strong over the wetlands, especially in the early morning and young garter snakes have hatched can be seen sunning themselves along the trails.  The Riparian Trail out to Vic’s Grove offers a respite from the summer heat with its canopy of Oregon Ash and Big Leaf Maple.
